Earlier today, Peter Adderton tweeted he heard T-Mobile would be closing more Metro stores (in addition to the non-exclusive stores we reported on earlier.)
Today, we’ve confirmed (from multiple sources) that in fact Metro by T-Mobile has issued 120-day termination letters to additional stores – anywhere from 5-15% of stores owned by larger dealers, as well as stores that were at “end of lease” and low performers. While we haven’t confirmed the exact number, we think the 1500 is not impossible. In addition, some T-Mobile branded stores will also be closed.
Metro did have the largest number of retail locations of the “big 3” MVNOs, and with the current pandemic, more and more people are purchasing on-line – providing another reason for the closings.
If you are an effected dealer and would like to learn about new options for your store, please fill out the form at link.nwida.org/metroform
We will update this post as new information comes in.
