America Movil, the parent company of Tracfone and 9 other MVNO brands, lost a total of 164,000 lines in the 2nd quarter of 2019. The total subscriber base was at 21.4 million at the end of June, down 3.1% from a year earlier.
Excluding Safelink, the net loss was 72,000 subscribers, compared to growth of 206,000 in Q2 2018.
Quarterly revenues still grew 3.9% year-on-year to $1.998 billion, including a 1.4% increase in service revenues and 21.5% higher sales from equipment.
ARPU rose 5.5% to $26, while churn reduced to 3.7% from 4.2%t a year ago.
EBITDA of $177 million was up 8.2% year-on-year, and the EBITDA margin increased 40 basis points to 8.9%.
