LYCA Mobile has rolled out e-SIM – and as seen in their in-store signage, you can activate it with or without their dealer.

Overall, e-SIM isn’t a bad thing… but…
Lyca isn’t compensating the dealer for e-SIM activations if the customer does it “on-line”, yet they’re advertising it inside the dealer store.
And, if that’s not enough, they’re advertising on the dealer door – basically saying “Hey, if the dealer is closed, just do it yourself” – and again the dealer isn’t compensated if the activation isn’t done in-store.
In addition, the signage is only in English – which means dealers who do not speak English as their first language, may not really know what the sign says – or that they’re cutting themselves out of compensation.
NWIDA has reached out to LYCA for clarification on this new “campaign” and we will update this story when we have more information.
