Official statement from T-Mobile:
On July 1, 2020, DISH purchased the Boost business from Sprint, except for a limited subset of customer accounts serviced by Sprint affiliates. T-Mobile recently purchased those accounts from the affiliates. We reached out to offer a limited time promotion designed just for those select customers.

We have heard from T-Mobile that this text was sent to customers in Shentel markets, where, as of 7/1, T-Mobile owns the Boost customer base. T-Mobile needs to convert these customers to the T-Mobile network by year end. We have confirmed the person who received this text is in a Shentel Market.

We’re hearing reports that Boost Mobile customers (owned by DISH) are getting texts from T-Mobile asking them to switch to “big Magenta.”
The texts include a short link that appears to point to the Sprint website, but is forwarded to a “pre-approved” offer on the T-Mobile site.
We’ve reached out to T-Mobile AND Boost and will update this story as we get additional information.
