The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Best Buy will close all 250 US mobile phone stores by the end of May, According to the report, the retailer said the small stores, mostly located in malls, were no longer as profitable, making up roughly 1% of company revenue.
The Mobile stores were built in 2006 as the cellphone market was taking off. Best Buy has thus far largely been spared the fate of many other retailers by investing in its online presence and improving customer service.
