The FCC announced a fine of over $10 million against HTH Communications - operating under the brands TAG Mobile and Airvoice Wireless.
The fine was for false claims filed under the Lifeline program
AirVoice Wireless was fined $2.7 million and TAG was $7.5 million for enrolling and claiming hundreds of duplicate subscribers, among other rule violations.
The fines follow investigations launched in March into Lifeline providers, in response to an advisory from the FCC’s Inspector General, highlighting waste, fraud and abuse.
