According to an article on BestMVNO (link below), Yahoo Mobile will shut off all services no later than August 31, 2021.
Verizon recently announced that it was selling its media business division, including AOL and Yahoo to Apollo Global Management for $5 billion. Verizon said it will retain a 10% stake in the new company and will rebrand it to “Yahoo.”
And, with that sale, Yahoo Mobile has announced that it will be shutting down. They have begun emailing its customers to say they will have service for their current billing cycle and will be able to renew their service for one more month. Yahoo Mobile says that the service will completely shut off by no later than August 31 – and they’re encouraging its customers to switch over to its sister brand, Visible.
Verizon launched the Yahoo Mobile brand in March, 2020 and used the Yahoo platform to market the service. Yahoo Mobile offered one plan – unlimited everything plan for $39.99/month (taxes & fees included) and it included a “premium” Yahoo experience, including ad-free Yahoo Mail Pro email account upgrade and 24/7 Yahoo account customer service.
