According to a social media post, and seen by one of their customers, Verizon is switching the roaming options. As of January 1, 2023 Verizon will only roam on a 5G network – which could adversely affect smaller and rural communities.

December 17, 2022 at 10:37 pmAgree, this is nonsensical.
I think what they mean is that Verizon will only roam on 4G and 5G networks, meaning 2G/3G roaming on small rural carriers may cease.

December 6, 2022 at 3:40 pmThat doesn’t make sense. Most of the regional operators that make up the bulk of Verizon’s “extended network”, aka roaming coverage, don’t support 5G yet. Voice roaming on 5G requires VoNR which is not widely availabe on any operator yet.
