Today, T-Mobile announced the latest changes in their “un-carrier” marketing – including:
- ScamShield – “Real Caller ID” to all customers (T-Mobile, Metro and Sprint) for no charge. Shows actual name and “verified caller” if they’re real. This should reduce spoofed calls.
- ScamID and ScamBlock – flags likely scam/spoofed calls. Also can block those calls (ScamBlock) – Not device dependent. No charge for either.
- 2nd Mobile number on certain plans – for free. Called ProxyNumber – keep your “private” phone number private and use this for signups, etc.
Since these are provided at the network level, they are available to the MVNOs, but based on the call it sounds like T-Mobile could be charging the MVNOs for this.
