CNET is reporting today (link below) that T-Mobile is sending out text messages about a $5 per line price hike.
CNET obtained a T-Mobile memo sent to customers about the price increase. The increase only affects some people on older plans. The memo, written by Jon Freier, cites “rising costs over the past several years.”
The rate plans affected are unclear – but if you get a text message today, your bill is going up. This is the second such increase as T-Mobile did the same thing in June. So, this may be an extension of that effort.
The memo states that some people “who had a price adjustment on products other than smartphones may have an adjustment on an older phone plan.” That would include someone who saw a $2 increase last year on a cellular watch plan, for example. This new price increase wouldn’t be added on top of that, but the $5 could be applied to another line on that account.
