As Dish purchased Boost to become the 4th National wireless company, the FCC required them to make its 5G broadband service available to 70% of the US population by June 14, 2023.
Yesterday, Dish announced it has met this mandate and, in addition to making the service available to more than 240 million people in the US, they also announced they have met another FCC commitment by deploying more than 15,000 5G sites.
During their Q1 investor call, Charlie Ergen stated Dish would likely pause capital expenditures after hitting the 70% mark, and restart in 2024 when it targets 75% coverage by 2025.
