As we reported, T-Mobile had another (their 8th) data breach – this one impacting 37 million users – and now, (per an article in Mobile World Live – link below) T-Mobile US has sued in two class action lawsuits who are alleging that the firm failed to adequately secure its customers.

Plaintiff Christine Cortazal, filed a lawsuit with the US district court in Florida seeking damages from the US operator. Cortazal said T-Mobile failed “to exercise reasonable care in securing sensitive personal information”. She is seeking compensation for herself and any persons “similarly” impacted.

In a court in California, Jennifer Baughman filed a very similar claim.

T-Mobile recognized that data included user names, phone numbers, dates of birth and other potentially sensitive information.

T-Mobile addressed the possibility of significant expenses in a report with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Last time, in response to a breach that affected more than 100 million users, the operator agreed consented to pay $350 million to resolve a lawsuit in 2022.
