Metro to Start Charging for Device Swaps

Here’s some (potential) news for Metro by T-Mobile (formally Metro PCS) users. According to a report in the Prepaid Phone News (link below) it appears that the T-Mobile prepaid brand will be implementing a fee on device changes and swaps.

The report is based on posts in Reddit and HowardForums. According to a post, Metro by T-Mobile will be charging a $15 fee for a change of device or swap.

Apparently. the fee has always been there. However, there was a workaround that allowed the fee to be waived by calling customer service. Sources state that the workaround no longer works.

A reddit user spoke to Metro customer service who verified the information with a supervisor. The customer service representative shared that there are changes that will be implemented on November 18 but said customers can call back to waive the fees. On the contrary, the change was also confirmed by a store manager.

At this point, nothing official has been announced by Metro by T-Mobile.
